Dear Reader,
This issue features a variety of trading topics. We kick it off with an article contributed by Dan O'Neil of XpressTrade who shares his insights on the factors you should consider when selecting an online broker. Also on our cover, you will find an excellent piece by author and trader Mark Wolfinger which suggests some option-based modifications to the traditional "buy and hold" investment strategy. Finally, regular contributor Mike Kahn offers a primer on Elliott Wave theory. It's a must-read for technical traders.
You'll also find all of our regular departments filled with on-target information. Kevin Lund of Optionetics.com offers an interview with George Fontanills—one of the most influential gurus of the option markets—in Puts & Calls. Adrienne Toghraie describes how fighting the trend can impact our lives inside and out of the trading arena in Mind Over Money. Mike Kahn is in the Chartist Corner with a discussion of how to gauge potential price moves against the risk of being wrong in an article entitled "Measuring the Move." Jaye Abbate of Trader's Library offers a review of the latest book from the prolific Larry McMillan—Profit with Options. And Brad Zigler discusses issue-based investing portfolios which use multi-factor analytic models in The Derivatives Desk.
On a personal note, this issue is my final assignment as editor of the CRB Trader. It has been my great pleasure to edit the Trader since 1995 but it's now time to move on. I have met some wonderful people during my tenure and enjoyed working with some of the top experts in the industry. I am grateful for the faith that CRB has placed in me and wish them continued success in the future. As for our faithful readers... may all of your future trades be profitable!—Graham Burns.
