- 1999: Volume 8, No. 6 |
Dear Reader,
In this issue we tackle the subject of technical trading. If this topic interests you, we'd like to remind you that the FIA's Futures and Options Expo '99 is taking place November 10-12 at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers and TAG 21 is being held November 19-22 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Both of these events are well worth the effort to attend.
Walter Downs kicks this topic off by recommending that we develop a framework for trading composed of both tactical and strategic ideas. Rance Masheck then describes a strategy known as the call ratio backspread which should be of particular interest to options traders. Finally John Kosar, a technical analyst for BridgeNews, advises us to look for synergies in our technical analysis and offers a few ideas on how to do so.
We are also pleased to feature our regular contributors with some solid advice. Adrienne Laris Toghraie describes The Bored Trader, Mike Kahn talks about reversal patterns in Chartist Corner, Brad Zigler offers a primer on strangles in Puts and Calls, and Bob Ecob gives us his view of what's hot and what's not.
In our January/February issue we will visit the topic of day trading. This has been a real buzz word in the industry and the popular media has often taken a critical view of this style of trading. We will examine what it is and how it can fit into your trading program.
