CRB DataCenter: A Complete Futures Data Source

Commodity Research Bureau, a division of Logical Systems, Inc., has provided and maintained, since the early 1900s, one of the world's leading futures market historical databases-designed to deliver broad, deep and accurate financial and commodity information in a variety of formats compatible with leading technical analysis software.

The products serve the needs of a wide subscriber community-private investors, analysts, trading and investment advisors, pension/ insurance investment trust fund managers, broker/dealers, manufacturers and processors, and oil and metal processors/refiners.

The CRB DataCenter, a proprietary toll-free end-of-day dial-in service, provides all the information an investor requires to make informed trading or hedging decisions, including futures and options price data, news stories, technical and fundamental analysis, commentary and trade recommendations. With all of the data packages available on the CRB DataCenter, the potential exists to turn a personal computer into a powerful futures market research tool.

Updated twice daily, at 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. U.S. central time, access to the CRB DataCenter is via personal computer and modem. Custom communication and data management software is provided, and subscribers simply choose the packages, as listed below, best suited to their needs.

Final Markets, the backbone of the CRB DataCenter, is a daily price download service available in four packages offering open, high, low, close, total volume, and total open interest data on all contracts:

CRB database

Futures Market Service, published by the Commodity Research Bureau since 1934. This in-depth daily research report is available as fundamental and technical analysis, or as a combined service-focusing on what is currently moving the markets and expectations for future movements.

Electronic Futures Trend Analyzer is the CRB's own trading system which categorizes the markets as uptrending, downtrending or sideways. Support and resistance levels are calculated for each market and double as stop-loss points for those markets designated to be in a trend phase. EFTA has consistently ranked as one of the leading trading systems by the Commodity Traders Consumer Report.

DataKit—Specifically for subscribers wishing to customize their data requirements at an economic price, the CRB DataCenter has packaged into it's DataKit, a daily price download service, the same futures market information that professionals pay thousands of dollars a month for, at a fraction of the cost.

Free of charge, within the DataKit package, users receive:

  • CRB PowerLink, a program facilitating the task of downloading preset end-of-day packages from the CRB DataCenter.
  • PowerSignals Lite, a simple technical analysis package for displaying charts and studies.
  • Price History—10 years of daily nearest futures ans cash price history, and on CD-ROM two years of daily individual contract price history on each of the major global markets.

CRB InfoTech CD—Subscribers can add value to their Datakit or Final Markets package with the addition of the InfoTech CD-ROM, providing decades of prices and data on nearly 700 cash, futures, option volatilities, index and forex markets from more than 50 global exchanges. By providing the full database in one source, InfoTech enables the user to perform further technical analysis, back testing and fundamental research. The data extract facility allows users to export data into spreadsheets, reports or popular charting applications. Plus, InfoTech is the only source for underlying cash markets.

CRB enables open access to all of the CRB DataCenter services for 14-day trials, allowing a thorough examination at no cost or obligation. At the end of the trial period, customers can choose to subscribe only to those packages needed to enhance their specific trading strategies.
